Part 24: Eating the Bread of Life (John 6:41-71)
Jesus tells the listening crowd by telling them that in order to have eternal life, they must eat the bread of life. The shocking part of it all was that he told them that the bread of life was his flesh and they must eat his flesh and drink his blood if they wanted eternal life. What could Jesus mean by these shocking words? Was he endorsing cannibalism? This teaching was so hard to understand that many of his disciples abandoned him.

As David's fame and popularity grows, King Saul's madness reaches the point where he's determined to kill David. David goes on the run and winds up living in a cave in the wilderness. It's not exactly an auspicious beginning for the future king, but how he responds in this dark time of his life will shape him into the man God wants him to be.
Elijah was having a really bad stretch of days. He had fled from Jezebel when she promised to kill him, he prayed that God would just let him die, and eventually he found himself alone in a cave. In his desperate plight, God spoke to him in a gentle whisper and reminded Elijah that God still had plans for his life. His experience teaches us how to move forward when we face dark days.

He eventually gives his daughter to David as a wife with the goal that she will be a snare for David. To add insult to injury, Saul's son, Jonathan, becomes David's best friend.
