In reading Habakkuk, we get to eavesdrop on a conversation between Habakkuk and God, during which Habakkuk asks God some very pointed questions, then God gives Habakkuk some very pointed answers. This conversation culminates in a beautiful prayer that was written to be sung in the temple.

John 3:16 is probably one of the most favorite Bible verses in Scripture. It speaks of God's immense love for humanity; however, sometimes that keeps us from seeing the fullness of God's character and nature. It is true that God is a God of love; however, it is also true that He is a God of wrath who will judge our sins. Our stubborn sinfulness can push Him to the point where He says, "Enough is enough!" That's the message of Nahum.

The prophet Amos spoke some of the harshest words of impending judgment on the nations surrounding Israel and upon Israel itself. However, he also promises a restoration will come to all those who heed God's word and seek Him while there is still time.

The prophet Joel spoke of God's wrath and judgment on the nation of Israel, but he didn't end with it. Joel prophesied that a great outpouring upon all flesh would come. That prophecy was fulfilled on the Day of Pentecost in Acts chapter two.
