In reading Habakkuk, we get to eavesdrop on a conversation between Habakkuk and God, during which Habakkuk asks God some very pointed questions, then God gives Habakkuk some very pointed answers. This conversation culminates in a beautiful prayer that was written to be sung in the temple.

John 3:16 is probably one of the most favorite Bible verses in Scripture. It speaks of God's immense love for humanity; however, sometimes that keeps us from seeing the fullness of God's character and nature. It is true that God is a God of love; however, it is also true that He is a God of wrath who will judge our sins. Our stubborn sinfulness can push Him to the point where He says, "Enough is enough!" That's the message of Nahum.

Micah's message is the same as the message of any ministry anointed and led by the Holy Spirit. It's the ministry that Jesus said the Holy Spirit would carry out. It's a message of sin, of righteousness, and of the judgment to come.

The story of Jonah is one of the most well-known stories in the Bible. However, the story isn't really about Jonah and the great fish. God was dealing with Ninevah, but He was also dealing with Jonah. Jonah finally surrendered to a ministry that he didn't really want to succeed.

The prophet Obadiah didn't prophecy about Judah or Israel; he prophesied to the nation of Edom. His message was an indictment of criminal negligence that still resonates with all who follow Jesus today.

The prophet Amos spoke some of the harshest words of impending judgment on the nations surrounding Israel and upon Israel itself. However, he also promises a restoration will come to all those who heed God's word and seek Him while there is still time.
