The eighth gate of the City of God is named after Issachar, whose name means "hire," or "price." This gate reminds us that we were redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ. He purchased our salvation!

Cancel culture as rampant in our society. If someone goes against the ever-changing standards of the world, they are immediately branded as a deplorable person and redemption is rarely available. Thankfully, God does not treat us like that. When we come to Christ in repentance and faith, God promises that He will remember our sins no more. What an amazing promise!

Christians find themselves caught up in the grand story of God creating the universe, sin breaking God's creation, and Jesus dying to redeem mankind. However, the story doesn't end with redemption. There's something more God wants to do in us and He uses the truth of His Word to accomplish it.
