John: The Gospel of Belief

A study of the Gospel of John

In John 10, Jesus describes himself as the Good Shepherd. However, most of us don't really know what a shepherd in 1st-century Israel did, so we don't really know what Jesus is saying about himself. When we learn what Jesus was really saying about himself and our relationship with Him, our hearts overflow with gratitude!

Jesus said that true believers will abide in His Word and the truth will set you free. What does that mean? What is truth? How do we find truth? How do we abide in His Word? On what authority does Jesus make these claims?

When Jesus made the statement that He was the light of the world, it was again a massive, blatant claim to be the Messiah that had been promised of old. In addition to that, His claim has very real consequences for us today as we navigate a world gone haywire.

The Pharisees tried to lay a trap for Jesus by bringing a woman caught in the act of adultery to Jesus in order for Him to pass judgment on her. However, Jesus did the unexpected and sent the self-righteous men away embarrassed and ashamed.
