Although Abraham was a man of great faith, there were times in his life where he failed to live in that faith. Looking at his example teaches us some lessons about dealing with hardships in our lives in faith.

Self-control helps us grow in many areas of our lives. The bible says that a man without self-control is like a city without defenses, However, if we learn self-control, we will take responsibility, welcome accountability, and walk in integrity.

A the beginning of the story of Abraham, God calls Abraham to leave everything behind and go to a land that He would show Abram (Abraham) later. This is a powerful example of how God still works in our lives today.

Gentleness (or meekness) is often misunderstood by today's culture. Many seem to think it implies weakness. However, gentleness is really power under God's control.

The story of Abraham (formerly known as Abram) is monumental as the Bible unfolds God's plan of salvation by faith. However, Abraham's story really begins much earlier than his birth. His father, Terah, teaches an important lesson about refusing to settle for less that God's plan for our lives.
